Pellet Stoves

Well, I have spent one winter heating with a pellet stove and I have made some observations.

First - it is almost impossible to get good pellets from anywhere. The 'light' pellets smoke, will not burn right leaving pails of half-burned pellets in the bottom of the stove.

We purchased the expensive pellets, the cheap ones, the local ones, and imported ones. The ones from Western Canada worked well, but we still have the occassional bad bag.

Also, the pellets are not a cheap as they say. Yes, we received more than 50 000 BTU, and one of the big stoves heated our full house, but it cost about $240 - $300 a month through the cold months.

Will I give up? No, next year we are going to replace the pellet stove with a corn/grain burner.
