Rain: Do You Need a New Roof?

There are a few ways to tell if you need a new roof on your house.

The most obvious is leakage after a rain. This may signal the need for a new roof, or a flashing repair.

Blistering and peeling of inside/outside paint. This is caused by excessive moisture that you cannot see. It might not signal that you need a roof, just that you need to fix the ventilation

Yellow and brown stains on interior ceilings and walls.


Dirty-looking spots on a roof can have a lot of causes vegetation, fungus or algae growth, damaged shingles.

If your energy bills increase for no reason, that can signal a vent problem in your attic, or a moisture problem in the house.
